Hilliar Township is currently reviewing and working through an updated draft of the Township’s Zoning Resolution. The purpose of this effort is to organize and clarify the existing document so that residents, landowners, and businesses have clear and straightforward guidelines for how property can be used within the township.
Over time, zoning documents can become difficult to navigate as sections are amended or added. This review process is focused on improving the structure and clarity of the resolution so it is easier to understand and reflects how the township operates today while continuing to preserve the rural character of our community.
As part of our commitment to transparency, the Township is sharing the working draft publicly on our website while it is being reviewed. The draft will continue to evolve as it is discussed and worked through during regularly scheduled zoning meetings.
Residents are encouraged to review the draft and stay informed as the process moves forward.
Who We Are
Hilliar Township, located in Knox County, Ohio, is dedicated to serving its residents by providing essential services and maintaining the community's well-being.
The township is governed by a Board of Trustees and a Fiscal Officer, all elected by the residents. Regular meetings are held to discuss township matters, and residents are encouraged to participate.
Township Meeting Information
The Hilliar Township Trustees hold their regular monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM.

PUBLIC NOTICE – BID AWARD MEETING
Hilliar Township will hold a public meeting to award the bid for the previously advertised roadway resurfacing project, which includes work such as hot mix asphalt surface courses, asphalt leveling, and chip seal applications. We will also discuss our roadway salt contract.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Hilliar Township Building, 5120 Columbus Road, Centerburg, Ohio.
Residents are welcome to attend.
Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting
PUBLIC NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
The Hilliar Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a Special Meeting for the purpose of an Organizational Meeting on April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at 5120 Columbus Rd, Centerburg, OH 43011.
This meeting is open to the public.
We are currently seeking alternates to serve on the Hilliar Township Zoning Commission.
The Zoning Commission helps guide land use, zoning updates, and development planning for the township. Alternates support the commission by attending meetings, participating in discussions, and filling in when regular members are unavailable.
