Important Notice
Hilliar Township is currently reviewing and working through an updated draft of the Township’s Zoning Resolution. The purpose of this effort is to organize and clarify the existing document so that residents, landowners, and businesses have clear and straightforward guidelines for how property can be used within the township.
Over time, zoning documents can become difficult to navigate as sections are amended or added. This review process is focused on improving the structure and clarity of the resolution so it is easier to understand and reflects how the township operates today while continuing to preserve the rural character of our community.
As part of our commitment to transparency, the Township is sharing the working draft publicly on our website while it is being reviewed. The draft will continue to evolve as it is discussed and worked through during regularly scheduled zoning meetings.
Residents are encouraged to review the draft and stay informed as the process moves forward.
Who We Are
Hilliar Township, located in Knox County, Ohio, is dedicated to serving its residents by providing essential services and maintaining the community's well-being.
The township is governed by a Board of Trustees and a Fiscal Officer, all elected by the residents. Regular meetings are held to discuss township matters, and residents are encouraged to participate.
Township Meeting Information
The Hilliar Township Trustees hold their regular monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM.

Notice to Owners and Heirs of Unused Cemetery Lots at Eastview Cemetery
Hilliar Township has identified cemetery lots at Eastview Cemetery that were purchased between 1936 and 1967 for which there has been no evidence of use and no contact with the township for many years.
The following owners are hereby notified, and a list of such owners will be included as part of this notice.
Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 517.073, the owner’s interest in the lot or right will cease unless the owner or the owner’s heir responds to Hilliar Township within one hundred eighty (180) days of this notice.
To preserve your interest, you or your heir must respond to Hilliar Township, 5120 Columbus Rd, Centerburg Ohio 43011 in writing no later than:
JANUARY 1, 2027
If no response is received by January 1, 2027, the owner’s interest in the lot or right will cease, and the cemetery lot will be reclaimed for use by Hilliar Township.

Hilliar Township Zoning Commission Public Meeting
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Hilliar Township Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Hilliar Township Hall.
The purpose of the hearing is to review proposed text amendments to the Hilliar Township Zoning Resolution, including:
Section 7.27: Sign Regulations
Section 7.31: Flag Lots
The proposed text amendments will be available for public examination for at least 10 days prior to the hearing at the Hilliar Township Hall and on the Hilliar Township website.
After the conclusion of the public hearing, the matter will be submitted to the Hilliar Township Board of Trustees for its action.
Residents and interested parties are welcome to attend and provide public comment.
